3. Precautions
Don't Enable/Disable TFE While Typing Enabling and disabling the Text Formatting Editor and the Spell Checker (with Account Preferences) after you have typed text into a WebTycho text box but before you have saved or submitted it, will result in a loss of all text as well as formatting.
Don't Use Different Kinds of Text Boxes for the Same Note Be consistent when creating a conference note, assignment, or any other text with any of WebTycho's formatting methods, (Plain Text, TFE, HTML). If you have to edit the document then use the same method when the document was created. For example, if you edit a document created with the Text Formatting Editor (TFE) and have since disabled the TFE, you will receive a dialog box warning you that you currently have the TFE disabled. You will be given the opportunity to enable TFE before you proceed. If you do not enable the TFE at this point, then formatting will be lost. While it is not necessary to create all documents the same way it is important to maintain a consistent format for an individual document.
Text Formatting Editor Caution Enabling and disabling the Text Formatting Editor and the Spell Checker after you have entered text into a WebTycho text box, but before you have submitted it, will result in a loss of all text. If you find that while typing you must change text boxes, then save or submit your text first (button at bottom of page), change text boxes in Account Preferences, and then return to the document to finish your text composition.
Limit the Size of the Note Keep in mind that there is a limit to the amount (~30K-35K) of information that can fit within these text boxes. Anything larger should be attached as a file for submission. Attempts to submit material larger than this will result in loss of text.
Work Offline to Protect Your Work The importance of composing and saving lengthy assignments, conference notes, and content submissions offline onto your computer cannot be overstated. Internet connections may be lost at any time, and for security purposes, WebTycho times-out. When this happens, any document in WebTycho that has not yet been saved or submitted will be permanently lost. After composing in a word processor, either copy and paste the text or submit file attachments. Copy and Paste from Microsoft Word or any other software only into the TFE but do not paste into a Plain Text Box. Here's why... And remember to turn off Smart Quotes.
